Junior Obedience
Our six week Junior Obedience Course expands on the material covered in our Puppy Essentials Course and uses a range of techniques and disciplines to further develop your dog's confidence, focus and good manners.
It’s targeted at dogs aged between 5 months and 12 months who have completed some formal puppy training (not necessarily with Bounders Dog Training).
The training will take place in our fully enclosed field and we’ll work with a maximum of 4 dogs on the course.
The focus will be on fun, reward-based training using the things that your dog finds motivating – food, toys or whatever it may be.
We’ll give you exercises to do at home and on walks, and video clips to watch, between the formal training sessions.

The course will cover:
- rewarding your dog and using reward markers
- improving focus and eye contact
- the importance of handling and husbandry
- how to settle and calm your dog
- walking nicely on lead
- coming when called using recall exercises and games
- impulse control
- improving and proofing sits and downs
- improving communication with your dog by understanding its body language
- showing your dog the value of doing what you want it to do
To attend a group course your dog must be dog/human friendly and non-reactive, so if you haven't trained with us before we'll need to find out more about your dog before accepting him/her onto the Junior Obedience course, so we'll send you a form to complete. If your dog is dog/human reactive, we're happy to work with you on a 1 to 1 basis instead.
